We suggest that you bring your new puppy or kitten to see us as soon as you make him or her a part of your family. We will provide your pet with a full physical examination including a parasite check. During the first visit we will also decide on a course of vaccinations. We believe in a progressive vaccine protocol and recommend vaccinations depending on lifestyle, age and risk of exposure on an individual basis. We will always assess your pet’s needs and tailor a health care program specifically for your pet.
Senior pet care is an important part of our commitment to the life of your pet. We offer a geriatric program that allows us to screen your pet for serious health problems rather than waiting for obvious signs of illness. Regular pet check ups throughout the years will allow us to establish baseline values so that we can track any health changes as your pet ages.
The Doctors and staff realize the importance of proper nutrition and that each patient has individual nutritional needs in health and illness. We carry Orijen, a grain free Canadian product for basic wellness, as well as Royal Canin's Early Care nutritional program designed to maintain healthy skin and musculoskeletal systems for all age groups. When indicated, we carry a full line of prescription formulas from both Royal Canin and Science Diet for conditions ranging from food allergies, to renal failure to cardiac disease. Food therapy from a Traditional Chinese Medicine point of view is also incorporated by a few of our practitioners.
Obesity in our animals can lead to similar changes as reported in people, such as worsening of Osteoarthritis, potentiating Diabetes, and causing general malaise and laziness. We feel very strongly that as a team we can help you manage these patients back to better health. With proper nutrition and an appropriate exercise program our obese patients achieve a happier and healthier life.
As members of the International Academy of Veterinary Pain Management we strive to stay at the front end of this rapidly growing field. Through multimodal management we use physical rehabilitation with Dr. Sasher, our certified Canine Rehabilitation practitioner, acupuncture with our certified acupuncturists, Drs. Sasher and Winokur, and nutrition and medical management. We closely monitor progress with you and safely make adjustments to patient needs. We see profound changes in our patients and encourage you to let us help you improve the quality of your pet's day to day life.
Problems with itchiness or irritation of the skin can be frustrating for you and your pet. Fortunately our veterinarians can easily treat many skin conditions. Let us help provide your pet with relief from their dermatological issues.
The Doctors and staff can help with most ophthalmic problems and can assist in monitoring glaucoma patients with tonometry. For the more complicated ophthalmic cases, our excellent rapport with the local Board Certified Ophthalmologists will ease the referral process.
Many older pets become susceptible to kidney and liver failure as they continue to age. Diabetes is also a common disease that can diminish the quality of life for your pet. Annual blood tests allow us to screen for signs of several internal organ disease processes and keep your pet healthy and happy for many long years.
There are many infectious diseases that your pet may be exposed to on a regular basis. Our vaccine protocols and annual diagnostic screenings allow us to keep your pets safe from many dangerous but preventable pathogens.
