Veterinary Stem Cell Therapy Atlanta

Veterinary regenerative medicine is making great strides in providing alternative therapies for our animals.

Pharr Road Animal Hospital has teamed with Medivet Biologics to be able to provide stem cell therapy for our patients.

Veterinary Stem Cell Treatment

By harvesting stem cells from the patient’s own adipose tissue(fat cells) we can provide safe, autologous (coming from that particular patient) stem cells the same day here in the hospital, and send your pet home treated with their own stem cells.

These stem cells have potent healing capabilities as the stem cells can act as the body’s repair cells. They have the potential to divide and differentiate into many different types of cells such as skin, fat, muscle, bone, cartilage, and nerve to name a few.

We primarily are using stem cell therapy for the treatment of osteoarthritis and orthopedic problems, but the stem cells are showing good results for the treatment of severe allergies, and even kidney disease.

We team with the experience of the team at Medivet Biologics prior to all treatments to ensure the best outcome for your pet. The adipose derived stem cells can also be banked at Medivet for an annual fee and returned to us overnight for follow up treatments as needed.

Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment

In addition to stem cell therapy, we also use Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP) to help treat inflammation and pain. PRP is a fraction of the patients’ blood rich in platelets and growth factors which when injected back into the patient provide a very potent anti-inflammatory effect.

PRP therapy is becoming increasingly popular in the human field for sports injuries. All of our patients treated with stem cells for osteoarthritis also receive PRP as part of their treatment protocol.
